Taking the Long View

Pilgrimage Number Four

Time is approaching for me to depart for Spain on my fourth pilgrimage to the Camino(s) de Santiago. My departure date is July 15th (about six and a half weeks from now).

Goal(s)

On other trips there were feelings of apprehensiveness, concern, nervousness, excitement and on and on. None of those are readily apparent at this point.

Meaningful Moment

The biggest change is that this time, I will not be alone, but will be hiking with Linda. This represents a significant change in my style of doing the Camino. On this journey I will be sharing my days with her. On the last I could only blog at the end of the day, really without first discussing the meaning with anyone. Now I will have that shared perspective to the blog.

Random Thought of the Day

Already looking forward to the day on the Camino that I rejoin with Linda and we both press on to the Cathedral at Santiago de Compostela.

On the Road

Linda and I have started our training. Our first outing with full backpacks was a 13-mile hike on a circumnavigation of Mendon Ponds Park. We followed that up with a thru hike (and return) of a flooded, muddy Ellison Park and Ellison Park Wetlands.
